TUTTOFOOD AND ABRUZZI AT FANCY FOOD OF CHICAGO

TUTTOFOOD a star in the promotion of agri-foodstuffs made in Italy

Abruzzi, an Italian regione rich in tradition and culture, was the main sponsor at the spring edition of Fancy Food, the most important food and drink fair in the Midwest of the United States, in Chicago (27-29 April). Companies from Abruzzi displayed wine, oil, table olives, pasta, gluten-free pasta, sweetmeats and low-carbohydrate products through a joint operation of the Chamber of Commerce of Pescara, the Overseas Centre of Abruzzi Chambers of Commerce and the regional agricultural department and the collaboration of TUTTOFOOD,

Two important events were added to the exhibition - an educational cycle on olive oil, organised by TUTTOFOOD on the basis of an agreement with Fancy Food and dedicated to operators in the ‘health’ sector, and a Convivio at one of the most important restaurants of Chicago aimed at exalting the flavours and perfumes of the regione, attended by some of the most important American and Canadian operators in the agri-foodstuffs sector. The display area was completed by a space for the preparation and tasting of products (under the supervision of the Abruzzi chef Nicola D’Alonzo) and ‘set’ with the most evocative pictures possible of the landscapes and monuments of the regione.

The educational area on olive oil was very crowded and well-received, enabling qualified operators to learn about the features of oil from Abruzzi, a product with superior flavour qualities, useful not only as a seasoning but also rich in significant therapeutic properties. The operation met with notable success “and was extremely useful for penetrating a rich, high-potential market like that of North America which already currently absorbs more than 25% of regional exports and has truly significant margins for development for the agri-foodstuffs excellences of Italy because of the vast range and qualification,” commented Michela Fischer, manager of TUTTOFOOD.
