Masseria Frutti Rossi
The LOME project by Masseria Fruttirossi has its roots in Michele De Lisi's passion for the pomegranate. In 2014 the dream becomes reality and the first plantation of 5000 plants comes to life, started together with the two sons, Davide who takes care of the production part and Dario of the commercial part. The awareness of the potential of a unique and generous territory combined with the far-sighted awareness that only the union between tradition and innovation could be the key to an eco-sustainable and therefore winning contemporary production, has allowed to develop an integrated supply chain project that today sees the cultivation of 350 hectares of land and 150,000 plants with ecological and sustainable agriculture. An agricultural center, in the fertile countryside of Castellaneta, an agri-tech company focused on the production of fruit plants with beneficial and healthy properties, such as pomegranate, aronia and Goji berries, real Elixir of Long Life. From the production of fresh fruit alone, in 2018, the company moved on to the launch of LOME Superfruit, the innovative line of pomegranate-based juices and fresh juices, with the inauguration of the new plant. LOME is an evocative name, the result of the union of LOve and MElagrana, an acronym that declares its vocation, an endemic love for this fruit and for the land in which it is born and grows: the land of Puglia, fertile and rich in water. But LOME is not just a brand: "the LOME method" is in fact a perfect combination of quality and innovation that has made it possible to create a real pole of excellence in Castellaneta Marina, in the province of Taranto, aimed at enhancing the precious fruits in the respect for the environment and consumer health. The strength of the project is the location of the plant directly in the orchards, creating an innovative "very short supply chain" in which all the fruits are processed a few hours after harvesting to guarantee an intact product and juices obtained from very fresh products, which therefore don't require the addition of additives, preservatives, dyes or sugars. A state-of-the-art plant, in which every process is constantly monitored: from the raw material, introduced into the plant only after passing strict quality controls, to the first stages of the selection process and during each individual stage of processing, to guarantee the obtaining of healthy, safe and genuine products. The flagship of the company is certainly the HPP (High Pressure Processing) technology which, through the use of high pressures at low temperatures, "coldly" eliminates the microbial load from the juices, and allows to preserve, in a natural way and without additives and preservatives, all the properties of fresh fruit as if just squeezed in terms of smell, color, taste and health contents: in this way it is possible to have a fresh pomegranate juice all year round. Starting from the pomegranate cultivation, in all stages of production, innovation was sought with the application of the most modern and avant-garde technologies of conservation, transformation and packaging, allowing to enhance the extraordinary health and nutritional characteristics of super fruits and guaranteeing high quality standards, in order to protect both the consumer and the environment. Masseria Fruttirossi, the mother of LOME, is in fact certified "Friend of the Earth-Residuo Zero". This means that all the company's products (fresh pomegranate, fresh and dried goji berries, pomegranate arils and hot or cold pasteurized mono-ingredient or mix juices) are made with ethical social responsibility, management and environmental protection. It is a guarantee of eco-sustainability of production processes, respect for the health of consumers through the placing on the market of safe and healthy "zero residue" products. The search for innovative practices in the implementation of the entire agricultural and agro-industrial project has led to the enhancement of the natural processes of the earth, to avoid chemical fertilizers and preserve the quality of the final product, and to the use of processing residues for the production of fertile soil / natural compost through a modern system of "worm composting" which, through fertilization, is reintroduced into the agronomic cycle, thus creating a virtuous example of circular economy and ecological agriculture, sustainable and respectful of natural resources. And always respecting the circular economy that characterizes all the production processes of Masseria Fruttirossi, in June 2021 the new LOME Nutraceutic line was launched which enhances the pomegranate peel, re-using it for the production of products with high functional value. The pomegranate peel combined with the fruit of the aronia is the basis of the prodigious phytocomplex, the FiberPeel ™, with remarkable nutraceutical potential, a real treasure chest of precious active ingredients, the result of 4 years of study by the Research and Development team of Masseria Fruttirossi in collaboration with industry experts. Other good practices that are implemented in Masseria Fruttirossi are the photovoltaic system on the roof of the plant and kits equipped with advanced sensors, with solar-powered batteries, which have environmental-vegetational and meteorological sensors allowing a considerable saving of water and energy resources: all practises that make Masseria Fruttirossi a virtuous company. The management of workers is also based on compliance with all laws and provisions, allowing them to live their work experience as fully as possible, participating and growing together in the development of the company. All this is the LOME method: a skilful synergy of avant-garde efficiency and respect for nature and the individual.
