Since 2022, Cerreto Bio has become a carbon-neutral company: the CO2 emitted by the company has been counted and compensated through the financing of the construction of renewable energy plants in developing countries. Not only offsetting, Cerreto Bio has activated emission reduction processes, re-evaluating every production process. Moreover, the company has always been environmentally aware: in addition to organic agriculture, Cerreto Bio is 50% powered by photovoltaic panels, while the remaining energy purchased comes from renewable sources; the company car fleet is electrically powered, and the paper used for leaflets, catalogues, and packaging comes from responsibly managed sources (FSC). Small daily actions to make a difference every day. In detail: Cerreto Bio Carbon Neutral - CO2 offset In 2022, the company embarked on a journey of awareness of its impact on the climate: through detailed measurements of CO2 emissions on the company and Cerreto Bio branded products, the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) was calculated and, subsequently, a list of targets and projects was drawn up to offset the carbon footprint and, above all, reduce it. These measurements were carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (GHG Protocol), according to which CO2 emissions are classified according to 3 scopes: direct emissions generated by the company; indirect emissions associated with the energy purchased and consumed; the purchase of goods and services; logistics; upstream emissions related to electricity and fuel consumption; business travel and home-work trips; and the end-of-life of products sold. After these careful checks, it has been ascertained that Cerreto Bio has succeeded in offsetting the CO2 emissions of all GHG scopes. The target of offsetting the 1000 tonnes of CO2 produced by Cerreto Bio in 2022 was, therefore, achieved thanks to the certified carbon credits, obtained following the construction of a major wind power project in the Indian region of Nashik, contributing to the sustainable development of India and powering its northern, eastern, western and north-eastern parts. Cerreto Bio is committed to maintaining its future responsibility in offsetting CO2 emissions, but its main goal in combating environmental pollution is to reduce its carbon footprint in a sustainable manner.
