With :

  • Nadia Di Domenico, Managing Director, Ecocert / Cert Italia — Moderator
  • Laurent Lefebvre, Fair for Life Development and Partnerships Manager, Ecocert Group
  • Biosic — Italian company involved in dried fruit value chains, particularly almonds and hazelnuts
  • Orsonia — Italian company involved in the wine sector

As organic markets evolve, the expectations of buyers, distributors, and consumers are no longer limited to the environmental characteristics of products. They now also encompass the strength of supply chains, the quality of business relationships, the transparency of commitments, and companies’ ability to secure their sourcing over the long term.

This conference will explore how approaches based on fairness and value chain relationships can complement organic practices by providing concrete responses to challenges that have become central for companies in the food sector: supply chain resilience, value creation, credibility of commitments, and access to increasingly demanding markets.

Drawing on an overview of market developments and the European framework, the session will present the positioning of Fair for Life as a tool for structuring responsible value chains. It will then give the floor to two Italian companies engaged in this approach, from different sectors—dried fruits and wine—to illustrate in practical terms why and how a fair trade approach can also be relevant within European agricultural value chains.
