Beyond fiber - functional paper as the new benchmark for the Food Industry?
The food packaging sector is accelerating toward paper-based recyclable solutions, driven by technological innovation and collaboration among market leaders.
Herwig Kirchberger, Managing Director of Delsci (delfort Group), will outline the challenges and opportunities of the transition toward recyclable paper-based food packaging, presenting case studies that highlight the technological maturity of functional papers as a viable alternative to non-recyclable plastics and multilayer materials. The paper-based solutions developed by delfort are PFAS-free and deliver high barrier performance against oils, fats, water, moisture, oxygen, and aromas, in line with upcoming European regulatory requirements.
The event will also feature contributions from Alberto Palaveri (Sacchital/Giflex) and Silvia Ortolani (Esseoquattro). Sacchital, a leader in paper-based flexible packaging, is addressing new regulatory frameworks (PPWR) and shifting consumer preferences with recyclable paper solutions suitable for a wide range of print runs and packaging lines. Esseoquattro, a pioneer in the adoption of PFAS-free solutions, promotes a sustainable packaging model that optimizes the supply chain and reduces food waste, including through the Bagvertising project, which turns packaging into an effective communication tool.
